Your request for information was transferred to us from the Hamilton City Council. 
 
Your request: 
I  would  like  to  know  any  proposed  fare  and  concession  structures  for  the  upcoming  Bee  card. 
Will  the  student  and  staff  of  the  University  of  Waikato  still  have  concession  using  Bee  card 
 
Council’s Response: 
We can confirm the concession for students and staff of the University of Waikato will be available under 
the new ticketing system. 
 
When  the  Bee  Card  system  launches,  many  bus  fares  will  change.    Within  Hamilton  the  university 
smartcard  fare  will  go  from  $1.70  to  $1.85.  The  university  concession  will  need  to  be  loaded  onto  a 
passenger’s Bee Card in order to receive the discount.  
 
There are also a number of fare changes to our regional services as well as we move to the new zonal 
system.  The University of Waikato concession is still retained as a 30% discount off the adult smartcard 
fare, many of which will reduce.
