Dear Wayne
REQUEST FOR OFFICIAL INFORMATION – DECISION TO REFUSE
Thank you for your request for official information dated 26 August 2019. You have requested the
following from Queenstown Lakes district Council (QLDC).
Please provide a copy of the agreement if there is an agreement between QLDC and
Auckland International Airport Limited or its subsidiary (AIAL), which governs the
management and operation of Queenstown Airport Corporation Limited (QAC) and the
relationship between QLDC and AIAL?
If yes, does that agreement contain a list of matters that require the consent of (1) both
QLDC and AIAL as shareholders or (2) the affirmative vote of the AIAL appointed director?
If you decline to provide a copy of the agreement, please provide a redacted copy of the
agreement, removing any supposedly commercially sensitive information.
If you decline to provide a redacted of the agreement, please provide a copy of all of the
provisions of the agreement that require the consent of (1) both QLDC and AIAL as
shareholders or (2) the affirmative vote of the AIAL appointed director.
QLDC response
Unfortunately, we have to refuse your request under section 17(e) of the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA).Section 17(e) of the LGOIMA states that the document
alleged to contain the information requested does not exist or, despite reasonable efforts to locate it,
cannot be found. In this case, there is no agreement between AIAL and QLDC that governs the
management and operation of the airport or the relationship between the two parties.
We trust the above information satisfactorily answers the relevant components of your request.
