Dear Ministry of Social Development,
On 3 April 2012 the Ministry announced that it would be terminating
the contracts of five providers of its "Family Start" programme
("Family Start contracts axed", Stuff, 3 April 2012). The five
providers were named as Turuki Health Care in Mangere, Papakura
Marae Society, the Waipareira Trust, Te Ha o Te Whanau Trust in
Opotiki and Te Roopu Awhina Family Start in Porirua.
I would like to request the following information under the
Official Information Act 1982:
* All performance reports for the past year for the five named
providers
* all correspondence with the five named providers about their
performance and the contract termination, including any warning
notices.
I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about
this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the
fyi.org.nz website.

Further to the Ministry's letter of 1 May 2012 extending the timeframe for
your request about Family Start, I can advise that the Ministry is in the
final stages of consulting with providers over the release of their
performance information prior to releasing the documents to you.
In addition, your request covers a large amount of documentation,
resulting in very large file sizes for the scanned documents. Do you have
a postal address to which the documents could be sent to you?
I apologise for the delay in providing a response to your request. We will
be in touch with you again early next week.
