What's This Site About?

This site allows New Zealanders to lodge Official Information Act (OIA) and Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA) requests online.

Bodies subject to the OIA must respond to requests within twenty working days.

Who Runs This Site?

This is a volunteer run site. It is associated with Open New Zealand, and has no political affiliation.

How Does It Work?

1. Find the public body you want to question. They must be subject to either the OIA or LGOIMA. If we don't have a public body listed, ask us to add them.
2. Ask your question. Specific, simple questions are more likely to get good answers.
3. We send the question for you. We also publish it to the site.
4. We publish their response and notify you. You can then mark it as successfully answered, or query them further.
