Performance Measures

Malcolm Lock made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

The request was partially successful.

From: Malcolm Lock

Dear New Zealand Police,

Why is the revocation of firearms licences a performance measure?

Why is the work to ensure people whose licences have expired have lawfully disposed of any firearms they have possessed a performance measure?

Why is the processing of applications for firearms licences NOT a performance measure?

Why is the issuing of licences NOT a performance measure?

Why is the verification of compliance with endorsed licences NOT a performance measure?

Yours faithfully,

Malcolm Lock

Dear MCMAHON, Teresa,

Thanks for the reply.

Not that I asked what the upcoming years performance measures were to be. I actually asked how (as in the past tense) they were determined.

I didn't even ask how it was done or when it was to be reviewed, my question was why or why not they were selected as performance measures.or not

Can this please be answered

Yours sincerely,

Malcolm Lock

Dear Malcolm

I have been asked to let you know that Police requires an extension of
time in which to respond to your request for ‘why is the revocation of
firearms a police performance measure’. This extension is pursuant to
section 15A(1) of the Official Information Act 1982, because the request
necessitates  consultations such that a proper response to the request
cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.

Police require until 6 July 2018 to provide a substantive response to your
request.

You have the right to ask the Office of the Ombudsman to review this
extension.

Kind regards
