Could you please clarify, are you requesting information in relation to
all people who have been through MIQF facilities (including locally
transmitted cases who are then moved into isolation facilities)?
OR did you only want information in relation to cases which have been
imported from overseas, and have then entered MIQ facilities.
Thank you

Dear OIA Requests,
Thank you for your reply.
Three points in my request for information remain unanswered:
- Total number of hospital admissions for non-COVID-19 related reasons for people whilst in an MIQ facility, broken down by age group;
- Total number of ICU admissions for non-COVID-19 related reasons for people whilst in an MIQ facility, broken down by age group;
- Total number of deaths for non-COVID-19 reasons whilst in an MIQ facility, broken down by age group.
Regarding deaths, you stated: "The Ministry holds health records on positive cases only. If someone did not test positive for COVID-19 and died while at MIO, the Ministry would not hold their record. As such, this part of your request is refused under section 18(g)(i) as the information requested is not held by the
Ministry and there are no grounds for believing it is held by another agency subject to the Act."
For the record, can you please clarify that the Ministry of Health, nor any other ministry holds no information regarding the health outcomes of individuals in MIQ facilities, unless it relates to COVID-19? I find it remarkable that no Ministry holds data for people hospitalised, admitted to ICU, or who died, whilst under mandatory detention in MIQ facilities for non-COVID reasons.
Yours sincerely,
Mr T. Baker

That is correct as per the information provided to you under the Act, the
Ministry of Health does not collect information on persons in MIQ in
relation to non-COVID related health conditions.
Health services at MIQs are provided by the DHBs, who are not believed to
track this data either. If you would like to enquire further on these
specific points we suggest approaching any DHB relevant to your query for
information.
