Dear Taryn
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act request – CCTV
cameras – Response
1. Further to your request for information dated 17 April 2020
regarding CCTV cameras, we are now able to provide you with Napier City
Council’s response.
2. You requested:
Could you please tell me how many CCTV CAMERAS there are in napier and
hastings and where abouts they all are located.
3. Council transferred part of your request, concerning CCTV cameras
located in Hastings, to the Hastings District Council on 21 April 2020.
4. Response:
Council confirms that there are 18 CCTV cameras located in Napier, that
are owned and managed by the Napier Safety Trust. Cameras are also
operating at most Council facilities for passive monitoring – this
includes 196 cameras across 42 facilities.
A number of cameras are currently being trialled at the Transfer Station
which are not included in these figures.
Please note that Council does not hold any records of any privately owned
or operated CCTV cameras.
The specific locations of CCTV cameras are withheld under Section 7(2)(d)
of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 – that
measures protecting the health and safety of members of the public would
be prejudiced.
5. If you have any questions with regards to your request, please do
not hesitate to contact us at [1][Napier City Council request email].
