[FYI request #9667 email] Dear Liam
Thank you for your official information request received on 25 February 2019 where you
requested “information you have about the total approximate cost that has been
involved in establishing, maintaining and monitoring the collection of tax information via
Land Transfer Tax Statements”.
We implemented Land Transfer Tax Statements (as required by the Land Transfer
Amendment Act 2015) in a Landonline update on the
28th September 2015. A subsequent update occurred in
April 2016 to address required maintenance at the end
of the transition period.
Improvements to the Land Transfer Tax Statement form were implemented in
December
2016, and there has been no significant change since then apart from a transfer of the
quarterly reporting functions to
Stats NZ. The project costs for Land Information NZ are as follows:
$
670,400 To implement in 2015/2016 (original implementation budget was $1m)
$
348,727 For subsequent maintenance and monitoring
$ 1,019,127 Total to date (as at January 2019)
If you wish to discuss this response with us, please feel free to contact Brian Evans on

Yours sincerely
