INFORMATION REQUEST - Te Papa o Ngā Manu Porotakataka
We write in response to your email dated 28 February 2019, in which you requested the
following information:
Please send a detailed cost breakdown. Especially a breakdown of the $1.7 million
construction cost line item.
Of special interest are engineering reports and costs, consultancy, costs associated
with local iwi, any rework costs and in detail.
We have considered your request in accordance with the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 (“
LGOIMA”) and respond as fol ows.
Below is a summary of the estimated construction costs:

The contract is a value and measure contract. Therefore, until the construction is finalised,
the figures will vary due to over and under measures. The final figure is now estimated to be
$1.8million. This is due to changes to the landscaping and additional hardscape elements.
A more detailed breakdown of construction costs is withheld in accordance with section 7(2)(b)
to
“protect information where the making available of the information – (i) would disclose a
trade secret or (ii) would be likely unreasonably prejudice the commercial position of the
person who supplied or who is the subject of the information”.
We
attach a schedule of actual spend to date per supplier.

There are no engineering reports. However, we will be provided with a producer statement
which will certify that the construction has been constructed in accordance with the design and
specifications.
If you disagree with the decision to withhold the information, you can apply in writing to the
Ombudsman to have the decision investigated and reviewed pursuant to s 27(3) of LGOIMA.
