Request made under the Official Information Act 1982
Thank you for your email
of 7 November 2018 to Auckland Transport requesting the following
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
On the 5th of November, around 8:30AM - 9AM on State Highway 1, going northbound.
Just a few meters pass the Ellerslie Panmure HWY bridge (1 - 2kms before Greenlane exit). A
driver in a white Honda on the far right lane drove right into my car on the driver side
knocking my right wing mirror off while I (Grey BMW) was in the middle lane. The driver
proceeded to weave through the traffic (which was heavy at the time) to avoid me and got
away. Because I was missing a wing mirror, I did not feel it was safe for me to pursue for his
rego/details. If I could get help identifying this driver's rego from available camera footage to
be sent over the to police department; would be greatly appreciated.
Your request was transferred to the NZ Transport Agency on 12 November 2018 as the information
sought is held by our Traffic Operations Centre.
The CCTV system is designed to overwrite existing footage every three to seven days, depending on
the location. As the Transport Agency received your request seven days after the date of the incident, a
search of our CCTV system showed the relevant footage has not been retained. Your request has
therefore been refused under section 18(e) of the Act as the information does not exist.
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse
