Request for information  
 
Thank you for your email  dated  13/08/2018  requesting information on two  missing 
person cases.  You requested: 
 
1.  I would like to request the case files for the Emma Beattie and Melissa Dalgety 
investigations in either paper format or as pdf files. 
2.  In accordance with Section 12 of the OIA, I am a New Zealand citizen and I am 
happy to provide proof of this should you desire. 
 
Your request has been considered in accordance with the Official Information Act 
1982.  We are unable to provide the requested information for the following reasons: 
 
•  These cases are still under investigation. All information is withheld in 
accordance with Section 6(c) Official Information Act 1982 - The release would 
be likely to prejudice the maintenance of the law, including the prevention, 
investigation and detection of offences and the right to a fair trial. 
 
Police considers the interest requiring protection by withholding the information is not 
outweighed by any public interest in release of the information.
