Dear Mr Randle
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA)
CAS-836182-V9T1L3
We refer to your request for official information dated 7 August 2018 with a requesting the
following information:
Can I have a copy of any and all Commercial Ratios received from Auckland Transport
that shows the annual regional Commerciality Ratios for bus, rail and/or ferry modes?
The Commerciality Ratio for the Auckland PTOM bus network for the year ended 30th June 2018
was 33.46%. AT does not calculate commerciality ratios for Rail and Ferry therefore this part of
your request is refused in reliance on section 17(e) of the LGOIMA as the information you are
requesting does not exist. Auckland Transport only has bus PTOM Units therefore commercial
ratios are only calculated for bus.
Can I have a copy of any and all Commercial Ratios received from Auckland Transport that shows
the annual Commerciality Ratios for individual PTOM units (including the estimated future
Commerciality Ratios for units if provided to the NZTA)?
Please refer to the attached data table – PTOM League Table for Auckland.
Auckland Transport do not forecast commerciality ratios per PTOM unit therefore this part of your
request is refused in reliance on section 17(e) of the LGOIMA as the information you are
requesting does not exist. AT do have a target overall fare box recovery target of between 46% -
50% over the next three years.

We trust the information has addressed the matters raised however, should you believe that we
have not responded appropriately to your request, you have the right in accordance with section
27(3) of the LGOIMA to make a complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman to seek an investigation
and review in regard to this matter.
If you have any further queries please contact Auckland Transport on 09 355 3553 quoting Official
Information request number CAS-836182-V9T1L3.
Yours sincerely
