Dear Property Owner,
Re: Earthquake prone buildings and public information
Catholic Basilica - 136 Barbadoes Street, Christchurch

This letter is to inform you that a list of earthquake prone buildings within the Christchurch
District is published on the Councils website.  We have information that the building owned
by you at the above address is earthquake prone and we will be including it on the list shortly.
We add to the list as information in Detailed Engineering Evaluations (DEE's) is received
from CERA or information is received by the Council.  Buildings are removed from the list
as strengthening work is completed and certified or more detailed engineering studies are
undertaken showing the building is not earthquake prone.  We recognise that many property
owners are taking action to address problems associated with their building and make
reference to this on the website.
The list will be posted on the Council’s website as a PDF at this address:
www.ccc.govt.nz/eqpronebuildings, if you think your property has been placed on the list in
error or you want to provide further information, please contact (03) 941 8999 or email
[email address]
The Council is committed to helping you stay informed about this issue. We will make
further contact with you in the future, notifying you of changes to the legislation and any time
frames for increasing the strength of buildings or requiring their demolition.
Yours sincerely
Robert Wright
