Radiation monitoring 
I refer to your 13 May email requesting information about radiation monitoring in New Zealand. 
 
The Health Quality & Safety Commission’s primary function is to work with clinicians, providers 
and consumers to improve health and disability support services, and we have no role in 
radiation monitoring. I am writing to advise that I am transferring your request to the Ministry of 
Health and the Ministry for Primary Industries pursuant to section 14 of the Official Information 
Act, on the basis that this information is not held by the Commission but is more likely to be held 
by the above Ministries. I am transferring the air monitoring aspect of your request to the 
Ministry of Health and the fish stock monitoring aspect to the Ministry for Primary Industries. 
 
Further correspondence will therefore come to you directly from the Ministry of Health and the 
Ministry for Primary Industries. In this regard the 20 working day time limit for providing you with 
a substantive response to this request will begin from the day after the two Ministries receive 
this transfer.
