Request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your email of 9 April 2018 to Auckland Transport requesting CCTV footage of an 
incident that occurred earlier that morning along the Northern Motorway at approximately 9:42am. In 
accordance with section 14 of the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), your request was transferred 
to the New Zealand Transport Agency (the Transport Agency) on 12 April 2018. 
 
In particular, you have requested the following information under the Act: 
 
could you make the footage available to the police and let me know the reference number to 
quote to them. 
 
In order for the New Zealand Police to obtain footage, they are required to complete a formal request 
through the Auckland Transport Operations Centre. The Police will therefore need to contact David 
Murphy, Operations Training Manager, by email to [email address] with reference to your 
incident. 
 
Unfortunately, the Transport Agency is unable to upload footage direct to the FYI.org.nz website. We 
would, however, be happy to provide a copy of the footage directly to you. Please contact Jackie Smith, 
Senior Customer Access Representative by email at [email address] and provide an 
appropriate email address that she can send this to.   
 
Due to the quality of the images presented in the footage, we are unable to indicate whether tail lights 
were working on the front vehicle involved in the incident.
