REQUEST FOR INFORMATION 
 
I refer to your request dated 13 March 2018 in which you requested the 
following information: 
 
1.  Whether the NZ Police Pipe Band were granted an extra $100,000 
over the next three years as part of the budget bid;  
 
2.  Breakdowns (if available) on what the $50k has been spent on 
since 2012/13;  
 
3.  All correspondence since 2012/13 between the New Zealand Police 
and the New Zealand Police Pipe Band regarding international 
players and funding;  
 
4.  A breakdown of the services provided to the New Zealand Police by 
the New Zealand Police Pipe Band, by date and event, since 
2012/13.  
 
 
In response to your request the following information is provided from the 
Royal New Zealand Police College that is the portfolio holder of the New 
Zealand Police Pipe Band: 
 
1.  The New Zealand Police Pipe Band was not granted any additional 
funding over the next three years in response to their budget bid. 
 
2.  The New Zealand Police does not hold a breakdown on what the $50K 
has been spent on since 2012/13.  This question needs to be 
addressed to the New Zealand Police Pipe Band.

3.  As explained in our previous response to your request of 13 March 
2018, a request for correspondence preceding 2015 is refused under s 
18(f) of the Official Information Act, as the information cannot be made 
available without extensive collation or research. 
 
4.  The New Zealand Police Pipe Band supports a range of ceremonial 
events, such as the annual New Zealand Police Remembrance Day, 
Pay Parades, formal dinners, and recruit graduations.  They also 
support other key events such as Police Open Days, recruitment 
events and lone piper duties at funerals of serving officers.     Your 
request for a breakdown of all the services provided to the New 
Zealand Police by date and event since 2012/13 is therefore refused 
pursuant to s 18(g) of the Official Information Act as the information is 
not held.    
 
 
If you are not satisfied with my response to your request, you have the 
right under Section 28(3) of the Official Information Act 1982 to complain 
to the Office of the Ombudsman and seek an investigation and review of 
my decision.
