Thank you for contacting Auckland Transport requesting the results from the crash reduction study completed 
for Huia Road in the 2012/2013 financial year. 
Please find attached a copy of the Crash Reduction Study for Huia Road.  
We have also provided the crash data for Huia Road for the period December 2013-January 2018 as requested. 
Please note that the data for non-injury crashes is generally unreliable and these crashes tend to be under-
reported.  
At the time the Crash Reduction Study was completed, a decision was made to address the locations with the 
highest number of crashes. With this thinking we have already carried out improvements at two locations along 
Huia Road. The way we approach these works has since changed and we are now looking at entire lengths of 
road rather than a specific location, especially when dealing with rural crashes. For this reason we will be 
completing further changes within the next financial year to address the issues around signing and lining 
mentioned in the report.  
We trust this information has addressed the matters raised however you have the right in accordance with 
section 27(3) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) to make a 
complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman if you are not satisfied with our response.
