MINISTRY OF BUSINESS,
•1 INNOVATION & EMPLOYMENT
30 August 2017
Dear Mr Sherper
Thank you for your email dated 11 August 2017 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and
Employment (MBIE) for the following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Subject: Official Information request
- Government Property Group statistics on requests for
Strategic Property Plans from agencies
1. Does MBIE or the Government Property Group have a deadline or timeframe that
agencies need to meet for submitting their Strategic Plans for Property?
2. If yes, what percentage of agencies met the most recent deadlines and what agencies did
3. If there isn't a formal due date, when were the last Strategic Property Plans submitted by
each agency for the previous 5 years?
MBIE is the government's Property Functional Leader. The Government Property Group (GPG)
delivers on the government's Property Functional Leadership objectives for MBIE.
All agencies within the GPG mandate are required to have an agency property plan aligned with
GPG's National Property Strategy. As an indicative timeframe, GPG requests mandated agencies to
submit their draft property plans to GPG by 30 June biennially for review. Submissions can be
received after this date and, generally speaking, most agencies submit their draft property plans
before or near to this date.
For the 2016/17 year, the table below outlines the percentage of agencies that met and did not
meet the timeframe of 30 June 2017:
GPG requested property plans from 58 mandated agencies
Draft property plan submitted to GPG prior to 30 June 2017
GPG granted an extension for submission of draft property plan
No property plan received - GPG continuing to liaise with
