 Extension of time to respond to request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
 
Thank you for your phone call of 22 August 2016 and email of 23 August 2016 requesting the 
following information under the Official Information Act 1982: 
• 
Confirmation of whether the mills providing steel for the two major projects in Taranaki were 
the same as those identified as providing non-compliant steel; 
• 
Information about the ‘Chinese companies that have been called into question recently’; and 
• 
Information about the ‘Chinese companies which have provided the steel for the two major 
projects in Taranaki recently’. 
 
This letter is to advise you that the NZ Transport Agency is extending the 20 working days available to 
respond to your request, as allowed for under section 15A of the Official Information Act 1982. We 
require an additional 15 working days to respond to your request. We wil  send you a response by 11 
October 2016.  
 
The deadline is being extended because consultations necessary to make a decision on your request 
cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit, as allowed for by section 15A(1)(b).  
 
Under section 28(3) of the Official Information Act 1982, you have the right to make a complaint to an 
Ombudsman about the extension. The address is:
