I refer to your Official Information Act request received by Southern DHB on 22 March 2016 
in which you specifically requested the following: 
 
1.  I am requesting the cost of SDHB’s use of April Strategy and the total cost of the 
“Listening Sessions”.  
 
Costs incurred by Southern DHB for services provided by April Strategy total $99,750. 
Additional expenses incurred, some of which relate to Tim Keogh’s travel, 
accommodation and meals, and some of which relate to the DHB’s organisational 
hosting of the listening sessions, total $90,068.57.  
 
The costs so far incurred with April Strategy include staff engagement survey, patient 
experience survey, support for innovation work, ‘Southern Future’ launch 
communications, and ‘Creating our Future’ week listening sessions (design, 
facilitation and analysis). 
 
 
2.  Was correct MBIE tender process used in outsourcing this consultancy? 
 
The MBIE process has been complied with as there is an exemption available.
