Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), dated
27 June 2026. You requested the following:
“1. Copies of al complaints and concerns Tama Potaka in his capacity as minister of
Dept of Conservation have received from any third party, including stakeholders,
any expert, any MP or other Minister, any other authority, and/or any member of
the public about the risks or harm or potential harm from actual or proposed use
of 1080 poison on DOC or adjacent land from the dates starting 1st January 2025
to December 31st 2025.
2. lnformation showing how Tama and/or his advisors responded to each
such complaint or concern. ”
Initial searches have identified at least 650 emails within the scope of your request.
Reviewing, assessing, and collating this volume of information would require
substantial collation and research, such that the information cannot reasonably be
made available.
As such, I must refuse your request under section 18(f) of the OIA.
I have borne in mind section 18A of the OIA but concluded that use of this provision
would not assist in this case.
You are entitled to seek an investigation and review of my decision by writing to an
Ombudsman as provided by section 28(3) of the OIA.
