As the responsible Minister for the Archives Council, I am pleased to advise that, under
section 14 (2) of the Public Records Act 2005 (the Act), I have appointed you as a member
of the Archives Council (the Council), for a three-year term of office commencing on Act
1 July 2026 and expiring on 30 June 2029.
A notice announcing your appointment will be published in the
New Zealand Gazette.
The Council
The Council is an unincorporated body established under section 14 of the Public Records
Act 2005. It provides independent advice on recordkeeping and archive matters to the
Minister of Internal Affairs, who is responsible for Archives New Zealand.

Commitment and remuneration
The Council typically meets up to four times a year in Wellington. Attendance at additional
meetings may be required from time to time.
Official
Your remuneration will be $315 per day, with reimbursement of actual and reasonable
expenses for travel. These fees are set under the requirements of the Cabinet Fees
the
Framework.
Term of office
Under section 14 (4) of the Act you will continue in office at the expiry of your term until you
are reappointed, replaced by a successor, or removed from office by the Minister of Internal
under
Affairs.
You may resign from office by written notice to me at any time, with a copy to the
Department of Internal Affairs (the Department), stating the date on which your resignation
will be effective.
Conflicts of interest
If at any stage during your term of appointment you feel you may have a conflict of interest

or probity issue, please bring this promptly to the attention of the Chair who will decide how
to best manage the conflict or probity issue.
