Thank you for your email of 17 June 2026 to the Department of Internal Affairs requesting
several documents under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):

The Department has identified 12 documents within scope of your request. These
documents are listed in
Table One below.
The discrepancy from the number you provided is due to additional appendices attached to
some of the documents you requested. The documents included in this response can be
found attached as
Appendix A.
Of the 12 documents in scope, I am releasing five documents to you in full. Six of the
remaining documents are being partially released to you, with information withheld under
the fol owing sections of the Act:
• 9(2)(a): to maintain the privacy of natural persons;
• 9(2)(f)(iv): to maintain the constitutional conventions for the time being which
protect the confidentiality of advice tendered by Ministers of the Crown and officials;
and
• 9(2)(h): to maintain legal professional privilege.
One document, along with its title, is withheld in full under section 9(2)(f)(iv), as the name of
the document, as wel as the document itself, is under active consideration.

Appendix B in document 7 is identical to Appendix B in document 6. I have provided this

Public interest considerations made in preparing this response
As required by section 9(1) of the Act, we have considered whether the withholding of
information is outweighed by other public interest considerations that would make it
desirable to make this information available. In this instance, we do not consider this to be
the case.
