I am responding to your email of 14 June 2026 to the Department of Internal Affairs (the
Department), in which you requested the fol owing information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
I noted, Pacific Development and Conservation Trust and Guardians Kaitiaki of the Alexander
Turnbull Library
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for public
nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad and pay rate for the role as wel . Also,
how many applications you have received for each of the role from the public and how many
you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for
your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed. Also, how
many space you are looking to fil in this round for each committee (Pacific Development and
Conservation Trust and Guardians Kaitiaki of the Alexander Turnbull Library). Please separate
your response for both entities you are seeking expressions of interest for.
Clarification of request
On 17 June 2026, the Department contacted you to advise that we had received two
requests from you, dated 8 June 2026 and 14 June 2026. As the requests were similar in
nature, the Department advised it would respond to your second request, as it had an
amended scope.
Response to your request
In relation to the Pacific Development and Conservation Trust, the positions were advertised
on the Department’s statutory appointments webpage. Nominating agencies were
contacted, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs sought nominations from his col eagues.
A copy of the candidate information sheet is attached as
Appendix A. The Department
received two applications: one from a member of the public and one from Whaikaha –
Ministry of Disabled People. As the appointment process is still underway, interviews have
not yet commenced. There are five positions to be filled in this appointment round.
For the Guardians Kaitiaki of the Alexander Turnbull Library, the positions were advertised
on the Department’s statutory appointments webpage, Seek, NZ Government Jobs, Linkedin,
the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa, the Archives and Records
Association of New Zealand Te Huinga Mahara, and the Professional Historians’ Association
of New Zealand Aotearoa. A copy of the candidate information sheet is attached as
Appendix A. The Department received eight applications. None were from Te Puni Kōkiri or
the Ministry for Women. As the appointment process is stil underway, interviews have not
yet commenced. There is one member role to be filled in this appointment round.
