I refer to your request for information dated 28th May 2026 regarding the ASICS waterfront half
marathon 2026 road closures. Please find our response below.
Please note, the facilitation for events like this is managed through Auckland Council team. We
have provided the information we hold.
Signage timeline There were six Variable Message Sign (VMS) boards advertising the upcoming road closure. The
original plan was for these to be installed on 5th April ahead of the event date 12th April. The traffic
management plan company updated to the contingency date of 19th April.
The locations of these VMS were:
• Sturdee Street near Market Place – facing eastbound traffic
• The Strand SH16 near Ngaoho Place – facing northbound traffic
• Ngapipi Road – facing northbound traffic
• Patteson Ave – facing northbound traffic
• Long Drive near St Heliers Bay Rd – facing northbound traffic
• Tamaki Drive near Cliff Rd, St Heliers – facing westbound traffic
Parking, road closures and communication
Please refer to the attached documents which outline the various plans for parking, closures and
communication. Some information has been withheld under section 7 2 (a) of the LGOIMA to
protect the privacy of natural persons including that of deceased natural persons.
