Re: Communication Regarding Mayor and HOTC 
 
Thank you for  your  email  of  21 May 2026,  requesting information  about  the 
letter/correspondence Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown wrote to the Heart of the City 
(HOTC) in March.  
 
The letter sent by the Mayor to the HOTC board members has been withheld under 
section 7(2)(c)(i) of LGOIMA. This is because the letter was provided in confidence 
and releasing it would be likely to discourage similar information from being shared 
in future where it is in the public interest for that information to continue to be 
provided. 
 
The decision by Auckland Council to release the information contained in this 
response was made by Lou-Ann Ballantyne, General Manager Governance and
