Thank you for your Email of 18 May 2026 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) 
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information: 
 
I am seeking data on how much extra power (MW) was added to the grid each year. Specifically 
would like for the years 2009 to 2026 the extra power (gross not net) added to the grid through 
additional power stations. Ideally divided into renewable and non-renewable. 
 
This letter is to advise you that your request has been transferred to the Electricity Authority (Authority). 
This is because your request is more closely aligned with the functions of the Authority. Section 14(b)(ii) of 
the Act allows me to transfer any request that is believed to be more closely aligned with the functions of 
another department, organisation or Minister of the Crown.
