Tēnā koe Tobias,
Official Information Request and Response
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act (“OIA”) dated 15 May 2026.
You have requested:
1. Are reporters employed under the Local Democracy Reporting scheme encouraged in any way to
ensure that reporting on community board issues and meetings is included in their reporting? If
so, how?
2. Is NZ on Air aware of any proposals to improve local democracy reporting, specifically any
proposals that could improve reporting on small entities like community boards?
In response to question 1, this part of the OIA request has been formal y transferred to RNZ on 18 May
2026. The information to which your request relates is not held by us but is believed to be held by this
office instead. In these circumstances, we are required by section 14 of the OIA to transfer your request.
You wil hear further from RNZ in relation to this part of your request.
In response to question 2, NZ On Air has not received any proposals to improve Local Democracy
Reporting that could improve reporting on smal entities. We, therefore, decline to release the fol owing
