Thank you for your email of 6 May 2026 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment 
(MBIE) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following: 
 
I am writing to request the total number of visa numbers issued for Indian nationals under 
the work category or purpose as a chef for the last 10 years. 
From Jan 2016 to May 2026 and then the 10 years prior from 2006 - dec 2015. 
 
This includes any schemes or pathways such as AWV streams and any other such previous 
streams eg. skil s shortages etc and any not mentioned here. 
 
Please include a breakdown of month/year issued, age, sex, and nationality. 
 
Can you then also include the total number of all visas issued for both those periods 
mentioned above for the purposes of a chef from all nationalities. 
 
On 8 May 2026, we contacted you to clarify if you were wanting data for: 
 
•  temporary entry visas 
•  residence visas 
•  or both temporary entry and residence visas. 
 
As we have not received a response, we have provided data for all temporary work visas.
