Thank you for your email of 6 May 2026 requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act), information regarding the position of Chief Executive Firearms Safety and
Education New Zealand. Specifically, you requested:

May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call
for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad and pay rate as well.
Also, how many applications you have received for the role from the public and how
many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of
women etc for your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have
interviewed.
I have separated out your request and responded to each part.
1) how you called for public nominations and on what platform you have call for public
nominations e.g. govt.jobs website.
In response to your request, calls for expression of interest were made via the
Ministry’s website and on SEEK. The expression of interest form was also circulated
to stakeholders and to the Public Service Commission.
2) A copy of your ad and your pay rate as well. Also, how many applications you have
received for the role from the public and how many you have received from other
nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry for women etc for your role.
Seventeen expressions of interest have been received, and none from any external
agency. a copy of the Ad is enclosed (see attached). The renumeration wil be set by
the Remuneration Authority once the legislation comes into force.
3) How many have you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.
Shortlisting for interviews has not yet taken place.
