Thank you for your email of 29 April 2026 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982, the following information:
Please supply me with an Excel spreadsheet containing all rental bond data covering the time
period 1 January 2019 to the current date, where:
1. Each Tab in the excel spreadsheet contains the data from one or more of the SAUs as grouped
below and is named as specified below.
2. The SAU location ID is any of the following:
Tab Name: Flaxmere
- 208800, Flaxmere West
- 209000, Lochain Park
- 209100, Flaxmere Park
- 209200, Flaxmere South
Tab Name: Whanganui
- 224900, Wembley Park
- 225100, Whanganui East-Williams Domain
Tab Name: Levin
- 235600, Playford Park
Tab Name: Napier

- 215300, Maraenui
- 214800, Onekawa East
Tab Name: Porirua
- 239100, Titahi Bay North
- 239500, Onepoto
3. The columns in each tab are:
- The SAU location ID
- The name of the SAU location as supplied above
- The type of property house, flat etc
- The number of bedrooms in the property.
- The date the bond was lodged.
- The rent price per week of the property the bond was lodged for.
- An indicator to show if the row is a new bond lodgement or an existing bond topup.
4. Each row represents either one bond lodged or one bond that was topped up because the rent
was increased.
Attached with this response is a spreadsheet containing the above-requested information.
Regarding this information, please note the following caveats:
• For each bond, the latest weekly rent has been provided. MBIE cannot provide historic rent
transactions, as it is overridden when new rent transactions are received.
• Top-ups may be from increases in “Bond/General Bond” amounts and include “Pet Bonds” (since
1 December 2025).
• Data is solely based on recorded information as of 13 May 2026.
• Where data is listed as “NULL”, no rent or dwelling type was specified.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request or this response, or if you require any further assistance,
please con
tact [email address].
