Thank you – I’ll check with Legal to see whether or not we provide the material. In the meantime, can you send me the science publication
links?

Hi Sarah

The information is contained in client reports or science publications so relatively simple to send you those - other than any confidentiality
issues with releasing client reports to third parties. There is no assessment of any weather impacts though.

Kind regards

Perry

Hi Perry

Thanks for this – how involved would it be to provide that analysis? This link Request for information regarding the basis of “no evidence”
claims about ship emissions and weather impacts - a Official Information Act request to Ministry for the Environment - FYI provides more
background on the topic the requestor is pursuing.

Cheers
Sarah

Hi Sarah

Our PM monitoring and compositional analysis has picked up contributions from shipping emissions at those monitoring sites near ports in
NZ. This includes Auckland, Redacted 9(2)(i) a Wellington, Nelson,

 and
Redacted 9(2)(i)

Redacted 9(2)(  – whether that is relevant to Q1 depends on the

requester’s intent and the timeframe (2022 onwards?).

These datasets were generated as a result of client contracts with associated analysis and reporting (apart from the Nelson data which was a
FRST funded program 2009-2012).

Kind regards

Perry

Kia ora Sarah,

I think the answer is no, but I am sending this on to Perry Davy and Jocelyn Turnbull from the GNS BU as there may be some black carbon
data from the GNS BU that wasn’t considered previously as I believe that request pre-dated the merger. In addition, there may be some new
data from CarbonWatch-Urban, although I can’t think of anything directly shipping related. I’m also including Sally, as she has the best
overview of any work from NIWA’s old air quality team and is most likely to be aware of anything I’ve missed out on.

Jocelyn, Perry, Sally, do you know of anything?

Sara

Kia ora Sara

We’ve had the following OIA request which Melissa was handling, which was a refinement of an earlier request. I gather from Melissa’s
emails that we have nothing to respond to regards questions 1 & 2. Do you know if we would have anything with regards to question 3?

Given the answer was no to 1 & 2, I’d assume it would be the same for 3, but would appreciate your confirmation.

Thank you very much
Sarah
