Decision on request for information
On 22 April 2026, the Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAI() received the
transfer of your request from the Office of Hon James Meager. The information request
asked for a viewing of the warrant cards for each Commissioner and what the value and
brand of the Chief Commissioner's laptop was.
In response we advise as follows.
TAIC can confirm that David Clarke, Chief Commissioner has a TC-1000170, MS Surface Pro 9
13" i7 32GB which cost $4,398.00 excluding GST.
Regarding the warrant cards for each Commissioner, pursuant to section 16(1 )(e) of the
Official Information Act 1983, we provide the following summary of the contents of the
information contained on the Commissioner's warrant cards.
On the front of the card
• The TAIC logo*
• The name of our organisation: "Transport Accident Investigation Commission"*
• A statement that the card is a "Warrant of Authority"*
• The specific ID/Warrant number for that individual (which uniquely identifies that
card)
• An expiry date
• A photo*
• The individual's name and title*
On the reverse of the card
• A statement that it is a "Warrant of Authority"*
• The individual's name and title*
• Which legislative provisions the individual is authorised to exercise
• A signature of the Chief Commissioner*
