Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) on 11 April 2026
to the Office of Hon Matt Doocey, Associate Minister of Health regarding appointments to the
Radiation Safety Advisory Council. Each part of your request is responded to below:
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call
for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website.
The vacancies for the Radiation Safety Advisory Council were advertised on the Ministry of
Health Job website and on jobs.govt.nz and the Australasian Radiation Protection Society
(https://arps. org. au/Job-vacancies).
A copy of your ad and pay rate as well.
Please find a copy of the advertisement as Document 1. The fees are $330 per day for the
Chair and $250 per day for other Council Members. Part days will be paid at the day rate.
Also, how many applications you have received for each of the role from the public
and how many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or
Ministry of women etc for your role.
Twelve applications were received - six for lay members and five for members. Nominations
were sought from nominating agencies and none were received.
How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.
Six candidates were shortlisted, and two were interviewed.
Also, can I request to view the appointment letter if there is one sent to Cameron
Jeffries and Elizabeth Jones. I am happy for you to remove all the personal
information.
Please find the appointment letters attached as Documents 2 and 3. Please note some
information is withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the Act to protect the privacy of natural
persons. I have considered the countervailing public interest in release in making this
decision and consider that it does not outweigh the need to withhold at this time.
