Thank you for your Of icial Information Act 1982 (OIA) request, transferred from Police on 13
April 2026, in which you sought:
all communications if any, from or to Labour MP Ginny Andersen regarding 'Ride-a-
longs", accompanying patrols or station visits in the last 12 months.
Please find enclosed correspondence identified as within scope of your request. Please note
that it has been necessary to withhold some information from this correspondence under
section 9(2)(a) of the OIA, to protect the privacy of natural person and under section
9(2)(g)(i), to maintain effective conduct of public affairs through the free and frank expression
of opinions.
I consider the interests requiring protection by withholding the information are not
outweighed by the public interest in release of the information.

7 April follow:
06:30 hrs – Hon. Andersen arrives at Auckland Central Police Base (ACPB), (210 Federal St) meet and great with Area
Commander, Area Prevention Manager and Beat Team.
06:45 hrs - Attend Beat Team line-up meeting.
07:00 hrs - Deploy with Beat Team (including a Chaperone).
08:15 hrs – Meet and greet with the District Commander at ACPB.
08:30-08:45 hrs – Hon. Andersen departs.

Have gone back to Police with this, hopefully shouldn’t be an issue.

Police have come back with some suggested timings/dates, and options for the Auckland visit. Can you have a look at
these and see if either will work.
In relation to Hamilton and Wellington, if the dates are suitable, I suggest you nominate suitable timings (approx. 2
hours) and Police will work around this.

08:00 hrs - Attends leadership team Daily start up meeting.
08:30 hrs - Deploys with Beat Team (incl Chaperone).
09:30 hrs - Travel to the Hub meet and greet with District Commander.

I am requesting permission for Hon Ginny Andersen to visit the Police stations in Auckland CBD,
Hamilton, and Wellington CBD, and to undertake walkabouts with officers at each location.
We are hoping to schedule the Auckland and Hamilton visits in the first week of the April recess
(6–10 April), with the Wellington visit taking place in the second week (13–17 April).
Please let me know if any further detail is required or if alternative dates would be preferable.
