The Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) received an email from you on Monday 
6 April 2026 requesting the following information under the Official Information Act, 1982 
(OIA): 
Please provide the outcome, either published or unpublished, of this research from 
2020/2021: “Developing KIWIvax – an automated SMS-system to monitor vaccine 
adverse events” 
Please find our response below.  
In relation to your request, we hold an end-of-contract report submitted as a requirement by 
the research team upon completion of their Activation Grant contract. As the HRC Activation 
Grants are small grants designed to support proof of concept research supporting future 
larger research projects, these reports are unpublished.   
We provide the end-of-contract report in full as an attachment to this letter.  
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
