DEPUTY LEGAL COMPLAINTS REVIEW OFFICER
Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of a ful -
time Deputy Legal Complaints Review Officer (LCRO). Under the Lawyers and
Conveyancers Act 2006, appointment to this position is made by the Minister of Justice,
in consultation with the New Zealand Law Society and the New Zealand Society of
Conveyancers.
As a Deputy LCRO you wil provide independent oversight and review of the decisions of
the Standards Committees of the NZ Law Society and the NZ Society of Conveyancers,
which handle complaints in the first instance.
To be appointed a Deputy LCRO you must not be practising as a lawyer or conveyancer
at the time of appointment. Applicants wil , however, be required to have a comprehensive
knowledge and understanding of the New Zealand legal environment, and a familiarity
with the professional conduct issues that arise in day-to-day legal practice.
The preference is for the appointee to be based in Auckland but location elsewhere may
be considered.
