Thank you for your email of 6 April 2026 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry)
requesting the following information:

Teaching Council: closed by 5.00pm on 26 March 2026.
The appointments will be for terms lasting up to three years, will include
appointment of the Chair and Deputy Chair, and may include reappointments.
1. May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you
have cal for public nominations e.g. gazette website.
2. A copy of your ad and pay rate for chair and deputy chair.
3. Also, how many applications you have received from the public and
4. How many you have received from other nominating agencies such as
TPK or Ministry of women etc for your role.
5. How many you have shortlisted and
6. How many you have interviewed for each role.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
Regarding the information requested, we note the closing date of applications for
these positions was recent.
Regarding
part one of your request, as suggested in your email, the call for public
nominations was through the Gazette Notice, which served as the official platform for
publishing the vacancy and informing the public of the nomination process. This can

Regarding
part two of your request, the copy of the ad is provided in the link above,
however in terms of pay rate – fees for these members have yet to be confirmed,

therefore I am refusing this part of your request under section 18(g) of the Act, as the
information you have requested is not yet held by the Ministry, and I have no grounds
for believing that it is either held by, or more closely connected to the functions of,
another department or organisation subject to the Act.
However, we can confirm that the pay rate would be consistent with the fees range
for General Governance Boards, as set out on Page 27 of the Cabinet Fees
Framework (CFF). You can find the Cabinet Fees Framework on the Department of

Regarding
parts three and four of your request, the appointment process is still
underway and applications from the public and nominating agencies are yet to be
finalised. As such, these parts of your request are also therefore refused under
section 18(g) of the Act, as set out above.
