OIA: GEMS-47546 – Individuals blocked from social media accounts
Thank you for your email of 1 April 2026 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry)
requesting the following information:
• The total number of individuals who have been blocked from the official
social media accounts operated by the Minister of Education and the
Associate Minister(s) of Education from September 2023 to May 2026.
• For each minister, please provide the number of blocked accounts per
platform (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, etc.).
• The date range during which these blocks were applied, if recorded.
• Any policies, guidelines, or internal criteria used by the Minister or their office
when deciding to block individuals on official ministerial social media channels.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).
We have determined that the information requested is not held by the Ministry but is
believed to be held by and more closely connected with the functions of the Minister
of Education, and the Associate Minister of Education.
As such, I have transferred
your request to their offices in accordance with section 14(b)(i) and 14(b)(ii) of the
Act.
You may expect a response from the Minister of Education, and the Associate
Minister of Education directly concerning your request.
