Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of 
Health – Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) on 25 March 2026 for information regarding 
appointments to the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board. Please find a response to 
each part of your request below:    
 
“I noted, Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board- closed 23 March 
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have cal  
for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. 
 
The roles on the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board were advertised on the Ministry 
of Health Job website and on jobs.govt.nz.  
 
A copy of your ad and pay rate as well. 
 
Please find this enclosed as Document 3. The Ministry can confirm that Members of the Board 
are paid $958.33 per month currently, as outlined in Document 2.  
 
Also, how many applications you have received for each of the role from the public 
and how many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or 
Ministry of women etc for your role. 
 
The Ministry received four applications from the public. Nominations were also sought from a 
variety of nominating agencies; however, no nominations were received in response to these 
requests. 
 
How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.  
Also, can I request to view the appointment letter if there is one sent to the previous 
appointee. I am happy for you to remove any relevant personal information” 
 
A copy of an appointment letter from the 2025 Appointments to the Optometrists and 
Dispensing Opticians Board is attached as Document 1. The appointments process is still under 
way. Therefore, information on the number of applicants who have been shortlisted and

interviewed and a current appointment letter is not yet available. The Ministry invites you to 
resubmit a request for information in the future once decisions regarding the Optometrists and 
Dispensing Opticians Board have been finalised.
