Dear Riley
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (“LGOIMA”):
Request for Information
We are contacting you in relation to your request for information (Ref: LGOIMA 3397C)
regarding the sale of the Council-owned historic Odeon Theatre building and
Manchester Street land parcels.
At the time of your original request, settlement of the property sale had not been
completed, so we were unable to answer several of your questions. Settlement has
now occurred, which means the Council is now able to provide answers to your
outstanding questions.
The properties, including the historic Odeon Theatre building, were sold together as
one parcel to local developer, Carter Group, for a sale price of $3.75M. In
accordance with Council’s Reserve Fund Policy, which is available on our website,
Our policies | Environment Canterbury, the proceeds from the sale have been added
to Council's Property Development Reserve.
If you require any further information or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact
[ECAN request email] in the first instance.
Yours sincerely,
Giles Southwell
Director Corporate & Public Transport Services
