Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 11 March 2026 to the 
Department of Corrections – Ara Poutama Aotearoa, requesting the following information: 
 
How many Corrections staff were terminated by mutual agreement between the 2 
parties for the 12-month period of. July 1st, 2021, to June 30th, 2022. 
 
Of these staff terminations how many staff terminations were a result of a payout 
from implementing the Severance Clause, within the Staff Col ective Employment 
Contract. 
 
And how many of these staff terminations was a result of a payout from 
implementing the Redundancy Clause, within the Staff Col ective Employment 
Contract. 
 
Corrections needs to extend the timeframe of our response to your request by 20 working 
days, pursuant to section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA, as consultations necessary to make a 
decision on the request are such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably 
be made within the original time limit. Therefore, you can expect to receive a response to 
your request by 11 May 2026. If you no longer require this information, please let us know 
as soon as possible.
