Thank you for your email that we received on 4 March 2026 requesting the following information:
I would like to know the total cost of park and reserve maintenance in the Waipa district for the 
2023/24 financial year. Additionally, from that cost, what are the top three parks and/or reserves 
that cost the most in maintenance expenditure in that year. 
We can inform you the general maintenance cost of parks and reserves in the Waipā District for the 
financial year 2023/24 was $1,392,625. Please note this figure is not the ‘total’ maintenance costs 
as during the 2023/24 financial year we did not record Park Operations staff time against specific 
parks/reserves  or  reserve  types.  We  are  therefore  withholding  this  level  of  information  under 
section 17(f) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 as that specific 
information cannot be made available without substantial collation or research. 
Further to this, we do not record maintenance costs against individual parks or reserves. We are 
therefore unable to provide you with the three parks and/or reserves that cost the most in general 
maintenance for the 2023/24 financial year pursuant to section 17(g)(i) of the Local Government 
Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 as the information requested is not held by the local 
authority.
