Thank you for your email of 1 March 2026 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
(MBIE) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information:
I would like to request the number of staff in public relations or communications roles at the
Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment for 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, and 2021
MBIE is a large and diverse organisation, with its work spanning 15 interconnected Ministerial portfolios
(and support for several more) across 3 Votes. The communication teams within MBIE support business
groups by providing strategic communication planning and delivery advice, communicating policies and
regulatory requirements to the general public, managing reputational risk, supporting a transparent and
open Government through managing media enquiries, and ensuring our people are well informed
through internal communications.
