Public nominations for
the New Zealand Institute for Advanced Technology (NZIAT) Chair position and
Remuneration Authority Member position were as follows:
• Public nominations for both roles were sought through Jobs.Govt.nz, Seek, MBIE careers
website and LinkedIn.
• The adverts were also circulated through nominating agencies, specifically Ministry for Women
(MfW), Ministry for Ethnic Communities (MEC), Ministry for Pacific Peoples, Ministry of Disabled
People, and Te Puni Kokiri. For the Remuneration Authority Member role, we received 1
nomination from MEC, and 2 from MfW. For the NZIAT Chair role, we receive 4 nominations
from MfW.
• Copies of the ad-position descriptions for both roles are enclosed with this response.
• Remuneration Authority Members’ fees are set in accordance with the Cabinet Fees
Framework. The daily rate for Members is $990. Allowances and expenses are paid in
accordance with the Fees and Travelling Allowances Act 1951.
• Remuneration for the NZIAT Chair role is $73,618 per annum, in accordance with the Crown
Company Fees methodology.
• We have received 18 applications for the NZIAT Chair position, and 13 applications for the
Remuneration Authority Member position.
• For each role, the relevant Ministers are actively considering the applications. As applications
have only recently closed, the Ministers have not made a decision yet on a shortlist.
• The appointment process is still active, and no appointments have been made for these roles
yet, therefore there are no appointment letters at this stage.
• Hon Dr Shane Reti, the Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology is recruiting for the Chair
role for the NZIAT, and Hon Brooke van Velden, the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety
is recruiting for one Member for the Remuneration Authority.
