Tēnā koe John,
Your Official Information Act 1982 request, reference OIA 2516-0906
I am responding to your email of 25 February 2026 to the Department of Internal Affairs (the
Department) requesting the following information under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act), about a recent call for nominations to fill one position on the Gambling
Commission:
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as well and pay rate. Also,
how many applications you have received for each of the role from the public and how
many you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of
women etc for your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have
interviewed. How many vacancies are you looking to fill?
I note that you may receive my OIA request in the morning before the stated deadline
of 5pm on 26 February. Please consider this request only after the deadline has passed,
so that you are able to respond to all of my questions in full.
Response to your request
We listed the role on the Department’s website, and advertised it on SEEK NZ, Appoint
Better Boards, LinkedIn and on the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand Inc's
website.
There is one document in scope of your request which I am releasing in full and is attached
as
Appendix A.
We received nine applications, two of which were endorsed by the Ministry for Ethnic
Communities. Interviews have not been held yet, but we intend to invite three candidates to
be interviewed to fill the one vacancy.
