Request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your email of 24 February 2026 requesting the fol owing information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
Confirmation of whether any exemptions have been granted under section 168D of the Land 
Transport Act 1998 from any requirements in the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004, from 
1 January 2022 to the present. If exemptions have been made, the number of exemptions and 
copies of, or links to, the relevant New Zealand Gazette notices. If no exemptions have been 
made, confirmation that this is the case. 
 
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) has confirmed that there have been no exemptions issued 
under section 168D of the Land Transport Act 1998 in relation to the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 
2004 for the period from 1 January 2022 to the present. As a result, there are no relevant New 
Zealand Gazette notices to provide. 
 
In line with NZTA policy, this response wil  soon be published on our website, with personal 
information removed.
