Response to your request
An open search process was carried out in line with Public Service Commission (PSC)
guidelines, which included seeking nominations from the Department, caucuses, the PSC (for
the Chair role only), population agencies, and advertising on the Department’s website,
Appoint Better Boards, jobs.govt.nz, and Seek. Copies of the advertising material, which
include the fee rates for both the Chair and member positions, are enclosed as
Appendix A.
There is one Chair position and one member position to be fil ed through this process.
The Department received 10 applications for the Chair role and 41 for member positions. Of
the Chair applicants, three were nominated through PSC and one via the Ministry for
Women. Of the member applicants, four were received through the Ministry for Women,
one from the Ministry for Ethnic Communities, and one from the Ministry for Disabled
People. Shortlisting is not yet complete, and interviews have not yet taken place. The
Department expects new appointments to be made by August 2026, noting that this may
change.
