Fw: FOR ACTION - Forestry Contact from MPI - requesting engagement
Kia ora,
Regarding the Waitaanga discussion below, I fully agree with Gareth.  We have previously
been involved in discussions s 9(2)(b)(ii)
 regarding their
application to Ruapheu DC for the same scenario.  Having fielded persistent dialogue on
the topic s 9(2)(b)(ii)
I brought Chris Rendall from National Office into the discussion.
Chris engaged directly with MPI.  His communications outlining the Departments
Information
considerations and stance were fully supported within MPI - who then liaised s 9(2)(b)(ii)
.  Communications s 9(2)(b)(ii)
to the District office have ceased on this topic
Should it be required, I suggest bringing Chris into the discussion.
Hope this helps.
Nga mihi
Nicky

Hey Dan, something I committed to former colleagues too long ago was to find key
contacts for a couple of Crown forestry blocks where Te Uru Rakau either want a
relationship (Maraeroa A, B) or where there is an issue that needs to be worked through
(Waitaanga Forest – northern Taranaki’ish) where there’s an extant RMA issue that needs
be worked through. Broadly the Crown planted pines within a setback area, and a solution
(hopefully other than RMA-based) needs to be worked through between 2 Crown
agencies! I had thought I had passed on details but haven’t!

Information
Are you able to put your people in touch with John Hornby – Crown Forestry Manager –
s 9(2)(a)
 [email address]

I’m assuming it will be Graeme for Maraeroa and Gareth for Waitaanga.

Thanks Dan – hopefully no more context needed. Initially they’re just make contact calls –
the
I think Te Uru Rakau have found it difficult to connect.
