Dear Sir
Application for Sustainable Forest Management Permit s 9(2)(b)(ii)
Having looked at this application and having visited the site we are requesting that
the fol owing conditions be added to the plan.
1. That the owners contact s 9(2)(a)
from Kiwi Coast
s 9(2)(a)
to look at initiating regular kiwi
monitoring and instal ing a best practice stoat trapping regime throughout
the forest area.
2. That strict Kauri Dieback protocols around cleaning of boots, equipment and
machinery be followed before and after all visits to the forest plan area, and
that when logs are extracted or other work is undertaken that sensitive areas
ie within 3 X the dripline of kauri, be avoided. That all possible efforts are
made to minimise soil disturbance including fencing all areas containing kauri
to exclude stock and feral pigs.
3. That the landowners ensure that some form of consistent and regular
possum control is undertaken within the forest plan area.
4. That the landowners continue to undertake control of any weed species
present within the forest plan area that are likely to benefit from log
removal(eg privet, tobaccoweed, barberry, cotoneaster, pampas, gorse) or
are likely to be spread by logging activities(eg tradescandia, selaginella,
aristea, periwinkle).
5. That due to the site being very erosion prone that any logging activity should
not impact on creekside areas.
under the Official Information Act 1982
